Q:I am going to start an online company, but have not figured out what would be the best small biz to start. I have spent many hours researching this topic but coming up empty on feedback. I have considered things I know, satellite tv, cable tv products, information marketing(how to reports) etc....
A:I would recommend that you also participate in the Microbiz Discussion Group. We participate and have had many good discussion about small online business opportunities, like - Information Brokering, Data Mining, Internet Marketing, etc. To join the Microbiz Discussion Group and to see some great small business resources, go to: http://www.eplex.com/go/ I'm not sure how to word this without sounding like an ad but I have written a book that presents 50 online business ideas with resources for each. You can check out the particulars at www.netincome.com. Consider your level of expertise and in what field. Use that to develop a short list of possible business opportunities. If online is your bag, an informational service such as DataMerge is a possibility. Smart with personal computer hardware? How about a subscription service for support geared to an identifiable customer base? Tag into your customers' computer and configure the thing over the modem. I do it for more than 6 of my friends now. Use a basic LapLink type program and even help with software related problems. Seems someone so inclined could make a small business out of helping those just coming into computers. Charge by the call, use a subscription, the possibilities are great considering what passes for support with a large number of both hardware and software companies today. Don't waste your time with anything that you don't enjoy, or with something with low profit potential. If it works, you will probably spend more time with the business than anyone else. Without profits, you will be doing your customers a disservice by going out of business. |
