If you're like me or any of my friends, you've at least given investment banking some thought (if you want to study business, that is).  After all, who wouldn't want to graduate from college and walk right into a job that pays amazing and gives you a chance to be a Wall Street hotshot?  It sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

And that's what everyone in business school right now is thinking.  Most schools put out their employment reports and students quickly flip to the part with starting salaries.  It doesn't take more than 2 seconds to realize investment banking is where graduates are making all the money.

Unfortunately, investment banking isn't entirely glamorous.  Monkey Business is a book written by two ex-investment bankers with Donaldson Lufkin and Jenrette.  These two guys had the exact same idea when they graduated from Wharton and Harvard with their MBA's but they quickly realized it wasn't everything it was cracked up to be.

This book gives wonderful inside view to what jobs on Wall Street are really like as it describes their short time as investment bankers.  From working on big IPO deals to wild nights at the corporate Christmas party, Rolfe and Troob leave no rock uncovered.

The book caused a little bit of controversy when it came out.  Investment banks were quick to point out that the book was overly dramatic and wanted to discredit it in order to insure they could continue to have access to new crops of investment bankers.

This book is a must read for anyone considering going into investment banking.  If nothing else, it'll at least give you another look at what you're getting yourself into. But remember that investment banking isn't all bad either. Rating: 9.5/10.  Buy This Book Now!
