Credit cards can be wonderful things to have. They can get you into a lot of financial trouble as well of course, but provided you are sensible and you limit your spending wisely, they can be a superb way of managing your finances.
They are particularly good if you want to order items and you don't have the time to actually visit a shop. While a lot of us have taken to shopping online, it is still more than possible to call a shop or business and order something over the phone. Indeed, you can even place an order on a website and call them up to actually pay for it. For those people who still feel insecure about ordering online, this is a good way to get round the issue.
Processing a credit card over the phone is really not much different from doing it in person. The person on the other end of the phone will take your order and all your details, including your name and address. Then you will need to tell them the long number on your credit card. This is the actual card number itself.
You also need to give the start and end dates for the card in question. If it has a unique security number you will also be asked for that. All of this information is needed in order to be able to process an order over the telephone. This is because the person taking the order won't be able to actually see your card, so they have to know all the information that is on it.
Instead of putting your card in the credit card machine, the person taking your order will key in all the information you give them when the machine requires it. This will tell them whether the payment you are giving has been accepted or not, and if it has the order will be put through.
What could be easier than paying by credit card on the phone? While a lot of people do like online shopping, paying by phone can be just as easy provided you get straight through.
