Career change is basically a term used to explain a shift of jobs. One might be stuck to a particular job for quite some time and would like to switch over to doing something else like joining another industry or starting a business of their own. The reasons for changing would be boredom with the present job, no job satisfaction in the present job, willingness to not depend on anyone else and starting their own venture, etc. When you’re trying to switch over a job, you would not require much money to make that change but if you’re trying to set up your own business, then that might need some financing to be done and this where the financing companies come into the picture. But before approaching a finance company, there are things you should know like is it the right time to make a career move? How will I do better after the move? The following are some of the points you should analyze to find where you stand:
1. Know what you want: Now just because you are fed up of being in the current job does not being that you should give it up and do something else. Will the change be better financially than what you are doing at least equal to what you are doing? If yes then go ahead.
2. Do not hurry: Wait for some time. Watch the movements in the job market. See how things are faring up. Then take a go. After all, these external factors matter a lot to your job chances.
3. Know why you want the change: Know why are you making this change. Is that what you really want? Do not say you want to move just because your friends have moved and made a career change. Your priorities and your friends’ priorities are not the same and you must understand them.
4. Do your homework: Try to know what the options available in the market are. Do not just pounce upon anything that comes along. Does a lot of researching and you will get what you deserve? Otherwise you will end up doing something which is lower than your potential.
5. Make yourself equipped: Before getting into another industry, try to learn the new industry and equip yourself with information about it. If you are going for your new job and if during the interview you are not able to answer the questions relating to that particular industry, then you would give a very unprepared and incomplete impression to your interviewer.
6. Keep learning: Just because you have passed out of college, it does not mean that your learning process has stopped. In fact this is the time when you should learn even more than what you did before. Try doing some online or distance courses even when you are working so it gives you an edge in the job market and make that job hunt even easier. |
