Block Positioner - A block positioner is a member who is registered in the Securities and Exchange Commission, and who deals, sells, securities while taking a long or short position with stocks and bonds. A block positioner takes this stance with the hopes that he or she will net a hefty profit through selling the block for a much higher price that it was purchased for originally. Because of this, block positioners have been known, and often do, hedge or sell short, as a way to protect their investment in a certain stock or bond. This sometimes works very well as a protective measure. |
