Depositary Receipt - This represents the ownership of shares of stock certificates and trades in the financial stock markets. It is the buy and sell of the stocks involved with non-United States companies on the United States Stock Exchange. The depositary receipt carries the prices in United States currency and pays dividends in United States dollars. This can and does represent a fraction of stock certificate shares, or shares of the foreign stock transferred on a daily basis through the stock markets. The stock shares of foreign investors are treated the same as United States companies. This is convenient for the stock investors.
