Geographic Risk – Geographic risk typically involves investment speculation in the economies and industries of foreign countries. The average investor or trader would be wise to rely on an experienced portfolio manager when investing dollars in another country. There are many factors to explore before investing overseas. Some critical issues to research are: the social stability of that country, the economy, the stock market, the weather conditions, (if investing in agriculture), and the political structure and stability of the government. Any foreign investment adventure should be carefully thought out, in order to minimize risk, or at least know the risk of the terrain. |
