Held to Maturity - Held to Maturity is debt security that a company or corporation has the ability and the intent to hold their stock certificates until they mature. There is no intent to sell or trade. The holder of the stock certificates intends to keep the stock certificates. The amortized cost is reported material annually for tax purposes. Therefore, the held stock certificates remain unaffected by up and down swings in the financial markets. The holder of the stock certificates will hold the stock certificates until they reach maturity. Stock certificate prices will remain constant when the stock market prices rise and fall.
