New Zealand Exchange Limited (NZX) - The New Zealand Exchange Limited (NZX) began life as a regional stock exchange during the Gold Rush of the 1870's. In 1974 these regional exchanges formed one national stock exchange, the New Zealand Stock Exchange (NZSE). On June 24, 1991, NZSE implemented a computerized trading system, and abolished the open outcry market. This computerized system replaced with the FASTER trading system in September 1999. On October 16, 2002 the Member Firms of the New Zealand Stock Exchange voted in favor of demutualization. On December 31, 2002, NZSE became a limited liability company. On May 30.2003, NZX formally changed its name. |
