SEC Filing In most cases, a company must make much of its financial data available to the public so that potential investors can be informed of the company's financial status. In order to do so, the company will send this data to the SEC, which will make it available to the public. This financial information is delivered in the form of a document and is then sent out into the public eye. There are set requirements for this filing that all companies must adhere to because investors need to know this information on time so that they can make informed decisions on each company's assets.
