Stockholder - A stockholder also known as a shareholder is a person, group, or organization, which owns at least one share in a company. The stockholder's name will appear on the title of the stock as legal owner of the stocks or shares in question. A stockholder can also own shares of stock in a mutual fund. Stockholders cast their vote for the candidates running for directorship for the company they own stock in. They also have voting rights for certain company matters. Stockholders have the right to a portion of the company's present or retained earnings (earning which have not be disbursed also known as un-appropriated profit) to be issued in the form of a taxable dividend. |
