Straight Value

Straight value - A straight value is also known as an investment value. A straight value would be the value remaining on a convertible security sold on the open market if the convertibility portion of the security was removed. A straight value is also called a value to the owner because it is the bottom line when it comes to its worth on the open market. Another name for a straight value is value of a convertible security. A convertible security is a preferred stock, which can be converted into common stock or convertible bonds. The shareholder chooses to exercise this option or not.
