Tear Sheet - A tear sheet is a slang used for Standard & Poor's single page summary sheets for companies. Standard & Poor, a McGraw-Hill company is a private financial company best known for issuing reports and publications to the financial community on risk management, financial data, indices, and its rating of stocks and mutual funds. The tear sheet gives an overview of the company's segments, the results of their recent operations and fundamental analysis data. Though all data is on computer now, the tear sheet is a throwback to bygone days when brokers would tear out sheets from the S&P summary book to send to both potential and existing investors. |
