941 Tax Form

As a business owner you are responsible for creating a profitable company. You will hire people to perform all the necessary jobs to make this happen. You cannot do everything by yourself as you are simply one person. You also have specialists in areas that you aren't knowledgeable in to cover all the basis of keeping your company on the right path. One such area that many business owners are clueless about are taxes. Even if you don't keep up with the latest tax laws you should have a basic understanding. The 941 tax form is something that all business owners should know as it concerns you and your business.

So what exactly is this form? It is used to report taxes paid for your employees. This includes all social security, Medicare, and wages earned. Your accounting staff or hired certified public accountant will know exactly what items are needed and what figures to compute. But if there is a problem or concern then need to be able to talk to you about it. If you don't have any idea what they are saying to you there is a problem. They need to take the best course of action and they will need your consent and approval. They can't get it if you have no knowledge.

You trust your accountant to complete your taxes and submit all the forms but as the owner of the business you are held responsible should anything be wrong. This alone is the main reason why you should have a rudimentary knowledge. This will keep you out of trouble. There are many cases where owners have been embezzled or documentation was incorrect or incomplete. You cannot prevent every bad scenario that will occur, but you can lessen the chances.

For your own future and stability make sure that you understand the 941 tax form and how it applies to your business. If possible ask a professional to give you the basics. Try and get this from someone different that who you are currently using. Many times they might possibly give owners a free consultation. This is where you can pick their brain about things you need to know. That way should something come up you'll be prepared.
