Guess what? The IRS doesn't charge you anything to file your taxes online. Aren't your taxes high enough already without having to pay to file too? In fact you've probably already paid for the online website that the IRS uses many times over. The cost of your taxes is the fee that you've paid to use this service. It is in your best interest as a taxpayer to use it. Until you do you won't know what you're missing. It was created for the taxpayers to make filing taxes easier. Paying taxes on line is much cheaper than mailing your taxes as you will still have the cost of your postage stamp.
If you are in a special segment of the population you might even get additional help to complete your taxes as well. The elderly, lower income, military and disabled earners get special rights from the IRS. While it doesn't cost anything for any group they also get free assistance to complete their tax forms as well. This is a benefit for any person as you can be anywhere and as long as you have a computer and access to the internet you can file your taxes. We have taken paying taxes to a whole new level.
The first time you apply online you aren't quite sure what to expect. But when you get your refund back months earlier than previous tax filings you know that is what you are going to do again. If you know anyone that is still using snail mail to file try to convince them of the benefits. And if they need help you can always show them what they need to do. If they are elderly you might have a harder time as they might not be too quick to change what is ingrained in their psyche.
The IRS online filing system is probably one of the better inventions created by the government. Why can't everything be that easy? Whoever came up with that idea need to come up other ways to improve our lives in dealing with the government. Thought it would be even better if no one had to pay any taxes it all. We cannot have a perfect world. But we can always dream. |
