We're thinking the most stressful part of our income taxes is filling it out and trying to get all the information accurately done, well it isn't. After all that stress of going through papers and papers of filing out your income tax obligations you must keep yourself consistently alert of your income tax refund status. So really, once the tax season begins it doesn't end until you hear back from the government. It is fairly easy to check your income tax refund status if you have all the necessary information you require and you know where you're going to get it. Hopefully the following information can help you find your income tax refund.
Whichever federal income tax system you belong to, go back to their main site where you most likely submitted your income tax return files. Once you are there, you will probably find a link that will lead you to your income tax refund status. Be sure to note that you will require your social security number or a distinct identification number you may have been provided with, as a tax payer. Use the identification number that you used on your income tax return files. Be consistent.
You will be asked to select your filing status. If you remember, there are four separate categories; single, married filing separately, married filing jointly, head of the household or qualifying widow. Please select the appropriate status and make sure it corresponds with the income tax return papers you filled out. Since whichever category you chose determines how much tax you pay.
Now this next step requires you to specify the anticipated refund amount you have in mind. Be sure to enter the entire number as a whole dollar amount. You may have to return to your previous income tax return files or papers in order to refresh your memory, which is fine.
The last step is to submit the form. If you have filled out this form by hand then be sure to mail it with the correct stamps and so on forth. On the other hand, if you have filled this form out through the internet then when you are finished submitting it be sure to wait for some sort of confirmation. Once you have submitted the forms, if you filed by mail look to wait two or three weeks and if you have filed electronically then you are looking to wait a couple of days to a week. |
